What can you do, as a young mother, to reduce the pressure and enjoy your family more?
First, recognize that the joy of motherhood comes in moments. There will be hard times and frustrating times. But amid the challenges, there are shining moments of joy and satisfaction.
Second, don’t overschedule yourselves or your children. We live in a world that is filled with options. If we are not careful, we will find every minute jammed with social events, classes, exercise time, book clubs, scrapbooking, Church callings, music, sports, the Internet, and our favorite TV shows. Families need unstructured time when relationships can deepen and real parenting can take place. Take time to listen, to laugh, and to play together.
Third, even as you try to cut out the extra commitments, sisters, find some time for yourself to cultivate your gifts and interests.
Fourth, pray, study, and teach the gospel. Pray deeply about your children and about your role as a mother. Parents can offer a unique and wonderful kind of prayer because they are praying to the Eternal Parent of us all. There is great power in a prayer that essentially says, “We are steward-parents over Thy children, Father; please help us to raise them as Thou wouldst want them raised.” ~Russell M. "I am opposed to free education as much as I am opposed to taking property from one man and giving it to another who knows not how to take care of it... I do not believe in allowing my charities to go through the hands of robbers who pocket nine-tenths themselves and give one tenth to the poor... Would I encourage free schools by taxation? OH---my----Gosh!!!! I am sure that Matt will NEVER experiment with electricity again without first getting the ok from Mom or Dad, right Matt???!!! You are making Grandma very nervous, indeed!! Don't the veggie tales have a good episode about electricity and the careful use thereof?? Or safety kids, or something? I love you all, and Matt, I think you look cute with straight hair! Mom and Grandma O.
How can you keep that boy safe without dampening his spirit??? That boy is going to be the next Benjamin Franklin....or Thomas Edison....or Alexander Graham Bell....or Marvelous Matthew Nelson....JUST BE CAREFUL!!!

Ok, isn't it some kind of a federal offense to tamper with or deface United States Money? I hope you guys know a trusty Homeowners insurance agent and I bet that was an exciting adventure when that all came to pass. Definitely one for the books.
